The past will always find you.

Jos Archer was the girl with the perfect life; until the night it all came crashing down around her. Now, nine months later, she still hasn't begun to pick up the pieces. Even transferring to a new college and living under the watchful eye of her older sister, Renee, isn't enough to help her feel normal again.

And then she meets Dusty Sharp. For reasons Jos can't begin to fathom, the newly reformed campus bad boy seems determined to draw her out of her shell. And if she's not careful, his knowing green eyes and wicked smile will make her feel things she's no longer sure she deserves.

But even as Dusty coaxes Jos to open up about the past, he's hiding secrets of his own. Secrets about the night her old life fell apart. When the truth is finally revealed, will it bring them closer together;or tear them apart for good?

My Review:

Chelsea M.  Cameron always surprises me—usually with the words that come out of her characters' mouths. This time, it was a reference to Harry Potter. And, as a die-hard fan of HP, this made me snort and giggle like crazy for at least 5 minutes. The people around me at the time clearly thought I belonged in a pretty white padded room . . .

“He wants to put his basilisk in your Chamber of Secret”

I liked My Sweetest Escape. Was it my favorite? No. But I still enjoyed this book,  I'm glad I returned to this crazy “family” to visit and yes, I will definitely continue to read other books from Cameron.

I laughed, I snorted, I just plain had fun while reading much of MSE. And there were moments of both the cute and sexy variety, which also made me happy.

However, I admit I had a harder time liking Jos. She simply rubbed me the wrong way for the first . . .half of the book, I'd say. Oh, and Jos and Dusty's “big secrets”? * rolls eyes * I was beyond annoyed when they finally come out – really, why were they so protective over that? To be fair, though, I think this annoyed me only because of the fact that these past few months I have been stocking up on angsty NAs . . . and perhaps I'm a wee bit tired of all the Big Dark Secrets and Double “Tortured” storylines (in which the hero and heroine are both somehow flawed). I think it's time to take a break to enjoy another type of romance; a sweet contemporary, maybe. Who knows!

All in all, another good romance from Cameron. She does have a talent for making me smile throughout her books, and despite the few minor problems I had with My Sweetest Escape, I couldn't stop reading. Perhaps there's also a bit of crack in her writing as well? ;)
