[Review]: "Dirty Deeds"

Dirty Deeds by SE Jakes
Publisher: Riptide Publishing (January 11, 2014)
Series: Dirty Deeds, 1
Genre: M/M Romance

Two seasoned operatives finally meet their match: each other.

Cillian works for the mysterious Special Branch 20: an organization that runs black ops commissioned by the British government. His specialty is deep undercover assignments with virtually no support. He’s been alone for so long that he no longer knows anything else.

Mal’s also used to being alone. Wanted in several states and even more countries, he’s not allowed in the vicinity of any of his former Navy SEAL teammates. And his current assignment is to track Cillian in order to discover the spook’s endgame. Except he’s no longer sure which one of them is getting played.

Cillian isn’t about to let the mission that’s consumed him for the past several years crumble because an outsider is poking around where he doesn’t belong. But Mal forces his way through Cillian’s defenses—and into his heart—exposing a devastating betrayal that could destroy them both.

My Review:

Just when I think I have the story all figured out, Jakes throws me off again – wow!

Dirty Deeds is just that, a dirty, tough, quickie that taunts us with secrets and lies and cover ups. And I'm dying for the next installment!

“How did we go from cocks to this? Because I gotta tell you, cocks are more fun. Especially mine.”

Mal and Cillian are hot together, whether it's IM sexting or in the backroom of a club. We only get a glimpse at how the relationship could work out, but it's enough to drive me crazy. And the ending only threw another road block in the way towards their HEA.

Dirty Deeds ends on a cliffhanger, and if you haven't read the other series  (Hell and High Waters) connect to this one, you will be a bit lost. Hell, even having read all the books currently out I admit to being slightly confused at times, but I trust that by the end of the series, Jakes will have it all out in the open. There are many, many layers involved, in both Cill and Mal's story and Prophet and Tommy's (H + H W), and Jakes is a mastermind at it!

“Letting me know your email address. Big step. Sure you're ready for that kind of commitment?"

"I'm pretty sure I want you to shut up and open your ass for me.”

If you need a quick-paced novella packed with rough, sexy times and a budding chemistry that is sure to explode, this is it! Just be sure you read Jakes' other books. But don't worry, once you pick up on, you'll be dying to pick up the rest!

4 STARS!

Jakes is a very talented author, and when I tell you that her books are complicated, I mean it -- in the best possible way! Rereading the books will only bring new things to my attention while I await the rest of the series. That alone is always a good sign! :)

This series is related to Jakes' other series, Hell and High Waters. For more information on how the two are related, read this post.

If you are looking for a very sexy, raw, and captivating m/m romantic suspense, this is the author to grab!

Enjoy!

Until Next Time,

Yes, Jakes writes only m/m.
If you are interested in trying her books, I would recommend reading them in this order:
Catch a Ghost
Long Time Gone
Dirty Deeds
From what I understand, some of the things that are mentioned in DD are actually from the time frame of book 3 in the Hell and High Water series, which is not yet out, so perhaps DD might make even more sense if it was read after book 3 is released.
