[Kame's Snapshots]: "Sight for Sore Eyes"

If you recall, recently we asked your opinion on a new type of quickie post. We received some great feedback about what you would like to see, but please continue to tell us what works and what doesn't so we can improve even more in the future!

Today Kame is sharing her thoughts, much like a mini-review, of a recent book she read.

In future Snapshots, we could be sharing book quotes, discuss the book, rant about it, or recommend it! :)

Sight for Sore Eyes by Joan Leacott
Publisher: Woven Red Productions (February 6, 2014)
Series: Clarence Bay Chronicles, 2
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Emma Finn once dreamed of being a photographer, capturing exotic landscapes and poignant vistas. Then a series of tragedies tore her life apart. All she craves now is stability—reliable, boring, safe.

Ophthalmologist Asher Stockdale left big city life when his ex-wife took his young son away. When he met Emma, he pictured her as the centre of his new life in Clarence Bay. So why is he encouraging her to resurrect her old dream and go gallivanting around the globe? Dare he ask her to stay?
If Emma goes to India, will she be able to heal, or will she regret her choice?

Carpenter ants, a rescued Pirate, and a pair of scheming seniors help Emma and Asher to see what really lies before their eyes.

Kame's Thoughts:

Emma Finn is a gifted photographer but does not have the courage to pursue her craft. She is content to run her family business on the quaint town of Clarence Bay. Asher Stockdale has retreated to Clarence Bay to try to rebuild his life after his wife left with their son. A trip to the store to buy tableware for dinner with his family turns into a budding romance.

Emma is a great character and I felt her reasons for not pursuing her love of photography were valid. My heart ached for her at times. Asher was crushed when his wife left with their son, and further crushed when he was slowly erased from his son’s life.  Emma and Asher have both suffered heartbreak to the point where they are not sure if they could go on; I found it very fitting that they found the courage to continue with each other.

I love the setting and characters of this series! It is a great read that can take you away for a little while. When you are done you feel like you know them and they are friends you want to visit again.  I look forward to more titles in this series.

4 1/2 STARS!

Meet Kame:

Kame is part of a family of readers; one day she picked up the Nook she purchased for her husband and discovered her love of e-books. A few months later he purchased one for her so he could have his back! Kame’s Nook is never far, and she is hard pressed to pick a favorite book, genre or author. As long as there are characters that make her want to sit down and have a chat and a plot keeps the pages turning, she’ll read it.
