[ARC Review]: "Once in a Lifetime"

Once in a Lifetime by Jill Shalvis
Publisher: Grand Central Publishing (February 18, 2014)
Series: Lucky Harbor, 9
Genre: Contemporary Romance

SOMETIMES WRONG IS OH-SO-RIGHT

After a wrenching loss, Ben McDaniel tried to escape his grief by working in dangerous, war-torn places like Africa and the Middle East. Now he's back in his hometown and face-to-face with Aubrey Wellington, the hot-as-hell woman who is trouble with a capital T. Family and friends insist she's not the one to ease his pain, but Aubrey sparks an intense desire that gives Ben hope for the future.

Determined to right the wrongs of her past, Aubrey is working hard to make amends. But by far, the toughest challenge to her plan is sexy, brooding Ben - even though he has absolutely no idea what she's done . . .

Can this unlikely couple defy the odds and win over the little town of Lucky Harbor?

My Review:

In true Jill Shalvis style, Once In a Lifetime delivers a sweet, charming small-town romance!

There's something comforting, and enjoyable, about reading one of Shalvis' books. I can escape into a close knit community, watch the quirky characters interact, and of course see a new couple fall for each other. Plenty of fun, crazy times ensue, as well as the right amount of heat and passion. I've yet to read a book by Shalvis that I didn't enjoy, and Once In a Lifetime was no different!

Watching Ben help out the two young foster girls, convincing their father to step up and be there for them . . . be still, my heart! And while I had doubts about Aubrey, I liked her determination to show the town she had  changed. The chemistry between the two was great, with sparks flying everywhere.

Another perfect treat by one of the very best contemporary romance authors, Once in a Lifetime is sure to put a smile on your face! I'm glad that the Lucky Harbor series can easily be read in any order, each book able to stand by itself. I'm horrible at jumping into a series, including this one. However, Shalvis has created such a special community that you can't help but wish to visit Lucky Harbor again and again. Personally, I can't wait to return – whether it's a reread or starting a new story!

4 STARS!

:) I am glad to hear that! I find Shalvis is one of my comfort reads; if I need a break from angsty books or ugly cry books, I know that no matter which book of hers I pick up, I will love it!

Enjoy,

This series is great! Can't wait for this one. I also love the Animal Magnetism series - the first book, also called Animal Magnetism, is a favorite of mine. The Wilder books are great, too!

I have the Wilder books on my ereader (bought them on sale just last month) and I cannot wait to dive in. I've read part of the Animal Magnestism series; my favorite so far is Rumor Has It. I still need to read book 1 and 2 in that series. :)
Thanks for stopping by!
Enjoy,
