[Pat's Review]: "Beg Me to Slay"

Beg Me to Slay by Lisa Kessler
Publisher: Entangled: Covet (December 30, 2013)
Genre: Paranormal Romance

He’ll slay her demons, but it may cost her heart…

Four years ago Tegan Ashton was attacked. Determined never to be a victim again, she devotes her life to martial arts and self-defense. When her assailant returns to finish what he started, only one person can help her.

Gabe is a private investigator by day and demon slayer by night. After losing loved ones, he vows to defend people from a threat they don’t realize exists.

The relationship is supposed to be strictly business, but fighting demons together stirs up emotions they never expected. Turns out demon slaying is a breeze compared to facing their scarred pasts and even worse - hearts.

Pat's Review:

This is an exciting, paranormal adventure with demons, dragons, witches and a PI/paranormal investigator named Gabriel Smith who just happens to be a Demon Slayer.

Our heroine is Tegan Ashton, a victim of a violent crime four years ago. She survived, but spent a year in a mental institution recovering. She vowed she would never be a victim again. She has a black belt, and owns her own dojo.  One night watching the beach she sees a man burying a body in the sand, and when he looks up, she sees the face of her attacker.  She immediately calls the police, but they can find no trace. She knows what she saw.  Googling PI's she sees Gabe's information and knows he is her last hope. They meet. He agrees to take her case. The adventure begins!

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. One of the interesting aspects of this book was the humor Ms. Kessler used to tell her story. The banter between Gabe and Tegan is delightful, and Gabe's "snitch" Lagos provides some hysterical comic relief. There is danger, spells and  messy deaths and some very HOT scenes.  A very strong female character, and a man determined not to become involved make for an entertaining romantic twist. There are also bits of Gaelic/Welsh myths and legends.

I think readers who enjoy paranormal stories, with romance and humor will find this novel well worth reading.
