Kame's Review:

Emma is in Oklahoma for her sister’s wedding. A lifetime New Yorker she is awed by the cowboys all around her. She thought cowboys were always gentlemen, but her first encounter makes her wonder if her sister found the only good cowboy in Oklahoma.  Logan noticed Emma the minute she steps out of the car for the rehearsal party. Not only is Logan a cowboy but he is a career military man, so with that precision he will find a way to spend time with the bride’s sister.

“He kissed her with an intensity, an out-of-control ferocity, that bellied his usual calm demeanor. Logan had remained collected during firefights. He’d stayed cool while being dressed-down by his superiors, and while reprimanding those in his command, but he couldn’t seem to maintain his control now.”

Emma’s character grew on me in this book. The first few chapters she seemed rather whiny and desperate for a date. Once she spent time with Logan she seemed to mellow out and I felt we truly got to see who she was. Logan I loved the minute he came on the page, what a great mix in a character - a cowboy and military man. His affection for his extended family by birth and by heart was wonderful. His life gets turned upside down (avoiding spoiler) and he responds with such love and grace. Sexy scenes were higher on the steam scale, they added to the progression of the story.

“Something was very wrong when war seemed so much simpler than his home life.”

This is a very tight cast of characters in this book. Everyone even the few supporting are crafted with great detail. Their dialog at times made me laugh. Except for the parents involved I can envision books for all the single characters. Not every character behaved as an angel, but the bratty ones got their due at the end of the book and in reading blurbs of books to come I see they do get a happy ending.

This is the second book in a series, and I have not read book 1.  I was not lost in the least as there was a wonderful Prologue that revealed the setting and the backstory. I will be looking forward to book 3 in this series and if I find the time I will go back and read Becca and Tuck’s journey to love.

Meet Kame:

Kame is part of a family of readers; one day she picked up the Nook she purchased for her husband and discovered her love of e-books. A few months later he purchased one for her so he could have his back! Kame’s Nook is never far, and she is hard pressed to pick a favorite book, genre or author. As long as there are characters that make her want to sit down and have a chat and a plot keeps the pages turning, she’ll read it.
