Series: The Submissive, 2
Genre: Contemporary Erotica

The continuation of the tantalizing trilogy by Tara Sue Me that has captivated millions…

Nathaniel West doesn’t lose control.

As the playboy CEO of West Industries, he governs the boardroom during the day; as a strict dominant with exacting rules, he commands the bedroom at night. He never takes on inexperienced submissives, but when Abigail King’s application comes across his desk, he breaks his own restrictions and decides to test her limits.

Abby’s combination of innocence and willingness is intoxicating, and Nathaniel is soon determined to collar her as his own. As long as she follows his orders and surrenders herself fully to him, no one will get hurt.

But when Nathaniel begins falling for Abby on a deeper level, he realizes that the trust must go both ways—and he has secrets which could bring the foundations of their entire relationship crashing down...

Musing Maddie's Review:

If you have read Tara Sue Me's The Submissive, you will want to continue the series with this cleverly written version of the story thus far, The Dominant. I admit, I do like to read parallel stories, especially when they shift POV to the Hero.

To many, CEO Nathaniel West had it all: Looks, success, and control. What he lacked though, was a feeling of peace, a feeling of belonging, acceptance, love. He had strong family relationships, which were perhaps what kept him from being completely alone. Inwardly, he saw himself as a failure, incomplete. What he wanted but felt he didn't deserve, was Abigail King.

He was sure he wasn't capable of normal, that being a Dom was the only 'relationship' he was destined to have. He saw hints of Abby's longing. Hints of her love. But his lack of self-love, his fear of loss, his fear that even if Abby did love him, that too would dim, disallowed him true happiness.

This is Nathaniel's journey, and I loved it. I loved seeing inside his mind, inside his heart. Into the torture he put himself through, his despairing loneliness. 'My life had been a puzzle with one piece missing and then that piece fell into place.' Such was the writing, that I was teary reading about Nathanial's angst.

The Dominant was eloquently written, true to character, and poetically crafted. The banter between Abby and Nathaniel was wonderful. And, of course, it was passionate, sizzling and lascivious. That is, if you enjoy the BDSM genre. To me, it was more than just another book of that genre though. It was a powerfully emotional journey of one man's path to trust, love and completion. I look forward to Part 3 - The Training.

Meet Musing Maddie:

Musing Maddie is an avid reader, who mainly devours all things romance. She loves series, but only when the story warrants a few books rather than one. A strong, intelligent female with a bit of sass and wit is the preferred heroine in the books she reads, and some sizzle between the sheets is welcome too. Well, ok...more than welcome! Well, not just between the sheets is just fine too! She’s from Down Under, so her humor is on the crazy side. Captivating storylines, with well developed plot and yes, hot, hunky Heroes, is definitely a preference, but she loves it when the characters are damaged, and their story brings hope and restoration. Yes please to HEAs!

Thanks for the review, MM! :) I've not read this author before, but I may have to put her on my list now.

Now that 50 Shades has hit it big, what is your favorite erotica author/series to read?

Enjoy!
