[Kame's Review]: "Extreme Exposure"

Extreme Exposure by Pamela Clare
Publisher: Berkley (August 2, 2005)
Series: I-Team, 1
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Sparks fly when a hardboiled reporter meets a handsome senator. But a political scandal—and attempts on her life—could drive them apart. Or maybe adversity could draw them into a bond even more intense than their steamy sexual embraces.

Kame's Review:

Kara McMillan is part of the ITeam, an investigative reporter at the Denver Independent . Reece Sheridan is a Colorado State Senator.  Prior to his election he was a High School teacher who was encouraged by his students to run for office. He has no intentions of being a career Politian and pays close attention to environmental causes.  Kara had interviewed Reece over the phone before for an article, however one night they meet while waiting for tables at a restaurant.  Reece is immediately attracted to Kara and finds her after his dinner with his sister is complete. Sparks fly and Reece drives Kara home. The next day Kara receives a tip from a whistle blower. This could be the story to define Kara’s career, it could also be the story that kills her.

A friend had recommended this book to me, and I will confess the name of the series caused me to assume this book was a military themed book – as I had been reading that genre quite a bit. I found the investigative reporter angle so intriguing.  Pamela Clare did a wonderful job at writing this book in a way that those of us unfamiliar with newspaper reporting could understand.  I felt like I was right on Kara’s shoulder as she was working on her story. Her internal struggle to try to give her story the justice is deserved and be the Mom she wanted to be to her four year old son Connor was one I could empathize with.  Reece’s care and concern for Kara and her son just warmed my heart.  The romantic scenes between Kara and Reece were steamy, and just the right amount.

This book has the right mix of suspense story and sexual chemistry.  I am so happy it is a series. The story is complimented with a host of other quirky characters, one being Kara free spirited mother that I would love to spend more time with. I borrowed this book from the library, but will be on the lookout for a copy to put in my library.

Meet Kame:

Kame is part of a family of readers; one day she picked up the Nook she purchased for her husband and discovered her love of e-books. A few months later he purchased one for her so he could have his back! Kame’s Nook is never far, and she is hard pressed to pick a favorite book, genre or author. As long as there are characters that make her want to sit down and have a chat and a plot keeps the pages turning, she’ll read it.

Aw yay so glad you enjoyed it! Love the series :) My favorite is Gabe & Kat's book which is the 4th (it has one of the best endings I've ever read) but they're all really good. Hope you love the rest of the team Kame!
