Blog Tour: Interview with Sky Purington

WELCOME TO THE BLOG, SKY! :)

Best-selling author, Sky Purington lives in southern New Hampshire with her son and husband. The written word has been her obsession from the very beginning. Purington writes time-travel paranormal/fantasy romance heavily influenced by history.

From Irish Druids to Scottish Highlanders many of her novels possess strong Celtic elements. More recently, her vampire stories take the reader to medieval England and ancient Italy.
Enjoy strictly paranormal romance? Sky's latest novels follow three haunted houses in New England and the sexy ghost hunters determined to make sense of them. Make no mistake, in each and every tale told you'll travel back to another time and revisit the romanticism history holds at its heart.

Where to Find Sky:

~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~

The_Book_Queen: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Sky: Thanks so much for having me over! I first became published five years ago and what a ride it's been. With eleven titles under my belt and many more to come, I couldn't be happier. When not spending time with family and friends, I'm busy marketing and of course, writing.

TBQ: If you had not become an author, what else would you have done?

Sky: Honestly? Fashion merchandising and designing. I love clothes! *bashful grin*

TBQ: The Victorian Lure is part of your Calum's Curse Trilogy. Describe this book Twitter style (140 characters) :)

Sky: Three sexy paranormal investigators. A house that rolls back in time. Super steamy romance. You'll never look at ghosts the same way again!

TBQ: Are there any other genres you would like to write about?

Sky: Yep! In the romance genre...science fiction, historical, contemporary and regency. Non-romance...fantasy fiction and children's books.

TBQ: I know we all hate this question, author and read alike. :) But I have to ask: What are a few of your favorite books and/or authors?

Sky: I love so many that I couldn't possibly list them all. I will list one in particular that I would recommend to everyone. It's helped me immensely. The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. Great read! My personal favorites in the romance genre include Teresa Medeiros and Christine Feehan. (Both wonderful authors, I must agree!)

TBQ: A perfect hero--we all have our version of who he is and what he looks like. Can you describe your perfect hero for us?

Sky: Sorry ladies but mine is 100% Alpha...in a book anyways. *winks* When I first started writing my MacLomain Series, he formed in my mind and as I was writing about medieval Scotland. Alpha was a no-brainer. And though the males differ in appearance throughout my books, my favorites will always be those who are tall, in great shape, dark hair, sexy lips and possess those searing, make-you-look-twice eyes. Throw in a few well-earned scars...perfect! (Yum--sounds like my kind of hero, too!)

TBQ: What's next---Can you tell us a little bit about your upcoming releases or WIP?

Sky: I'm currently working on the final story in The MacLomain Series--Early Years. Highland Defiance is truly a labor of love as it finally tells Adlin's romance story. Adlin is head shaman and an old man throughout The MacLomain Series. In my Calum's Curse Trilogy, he's a ghost. Either way, this character has been in a total of six novels. Pretty cool, eh? (Oh, you are only increasing my interest in your books! :D )

In Highland Defiance we roll back the clock to around1050 Scotland and finally hear how he and Mildred came to love one another so much. By the way, Mildred is from 1940's America in this book, but she too appeared as a twenty-first century old woman in all three novels of The MacLomain Series!

Speed Round:

A day on a secluded island OR a day at the spa?
A day on a secluded island.

Reading a spicy romance novel OR a sweet "my-heart-skips-a-beat" one?
Spicy romance.

Which would you rather have an affair with: a sexy highlander OR a devilishly handsome English lord?
Oh, that's hard! Can I have both? *chuckles* If I have to choose, sexy highlander. (Oh, all right, you can be greedy and have both--but only if I can have the highlander when you are done! hehe)

Hot summer days OR cold winter nights?
Cold winter nights.

Where would your dream house be: in the city, where all the action is OR nestled in the mountain where you can enjoy the quiet and the wilderness?
Nestled in the mountains for sure!

If you could live in any time period, past or future, which one would it be?
Medieval Scotland. But I'd like the option to travel to the future. I really do enjoy modern day amenities. ;-) (I'm totally with you on this one!)

Cover Lover OR Blurb Fan?
Cover draws me. Blurb sells me. So Blurb fan.

Steamy Novella OR Sweet Novel? (aka, Quickie or Slow Build Up?)
Steamy Novel count? Slow build up to slammin' sexy? If not, I guess Steamy Novella. (Slow to slammin' it is! :D)

And finally, tell us 3 unique/wacky/fun things about yourself:

Sky: Let's go with unique...(may seem wacky to some)

#1- My office is full of Asian and African artwork, especially elephants. Tapestries, statues, you name it.

#2- I have the Celtic symbol for "life eternal" hanging from the rear view mirror is my SUV (Oh, I want!)

#3- I never write unless I have a candle burning.

The_Book_Queen: Thanks so much for stopping by, Sky, and please know that you are welcome back anytime! Do you have any questions for our readers--something to spark a good discussion? :)

Sky: Thanks so much for having me. It's been a pleasure!

Actually, yes I do! Something I'm curious about...

What are your thoughts on the dynamics between the hero and heroine in the stories you read. Do you prefer a couple who just met or are books where the two start off already knowing one another, perhaps a friendship that blossoms into a relationship, just as good?
