[Blog Tour Review]: "Shafted"

Shafted by Kymber Morgan
Publisher: Bandit Creek Books (January 23, 2012)
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Series: Bandit Creek
Is her love real or just a myth?

Returning to her summertime home of Bandit Creek, Callie Jamison discovers there’s a lot more involved to her grandmother’s legacy than a few cabins and some land, including a curse. The last thing she needs now is to fall in love.

Anteros, dark twin of Eros, is responsible for avenging unrequited love, a job that’s been a lot harder since his brother succumbed to ambro-fever and has been running amok shooting all the wrong people – including Anteros.

The clock is ticking, not only on his immortality and Callie’s free will, but their hearts as well. Soon they’ll each have to decide if the overwhelming attraction they feel is the real deal or if they’ve simply been ‘Shafted’ and it’s all a cruel illusion.

My Review:

Callie Jamison has recently inherited her grandma's property in the small town of Bandit Creek. But as she will soon find out her grandma's tales of prophecies and myths might be real after all....

Anteros lives a fairly normal life—drinking with his buddies, getting into arguments with his brother...Oh, and did I mention he's a Greek God? Anteros, God of Requite Love, has fallen down to the mortal realm, and now due to the arrow his brother (Eros) shot at him, he's going to imprint on the first woman he meets. As luck would have it, that's Callie.

I loved the idea behind the mythology twist to this Bandit Creek novella. I only wish it had been more developed, more expanded upon. This part of the story was by far the most entertaining, but I still wanted more from it—a lot more.

To be honest, I was a bit lost throughout most of the story. Either I missed something or something was missing, I am not sure. Because of this, it was a bit of a choppy read, though not horrible in any way. It was more along the lines of average, which is a bit harder to accurately describe in a review.

3 STARS! A very quick read, Shafted is the perfect choice when you are looking for a quickie mythology romance to pass the time with! My only complaint? I wish the story had been longer (and I don't mean full length necessarily!), with more details about Anteros' world and his family. The premise for Shafted had a lot of potential, but in the end it fell a bit short, leaving me wanting more. Still, for less than 100 pages, it's not a bad choice for an hour or two of reading! I'm interested to see if the author will write anything more about this world, regardless of whether or not it is set in Bandit Creek.
