Avon Addicts Blog Hop + Giveaway!

When Avon posted the sign-up sheets for this new batch of Avon Addicts, I figured, what the heck?, might as well try! I never dreamed I would be lucky enough to get a spot, at least not this time. It goes without saying that I was extremely excited, surprised, and happy when I received the email welcoming me to Avon Addicts!

I've had a blast so far, met some wonderful readers (a few of whose blogs I already followed), and found some great books from Avon. If you are a fan of Avon (and really, who isn't?), then I highly suggest you keep your eye out for the next round of AA and sign up!

For this blog hop, I had the hardest time trying to come up with a great topic to cover. I was going to post one of my Avon reviews, but as it's not quiet ready I had to drop that idea.

Instead, I decided to share with everyone some of my favorite quotes from Avon authors. :) I hope you enjoy! And please feel free to share any of YOUR favorite quotes--I love adding them to my Quote Notebook. :D

Really, how can a list of favorite quotes be complete without some Julia Quinn? It's impossible, I tell ya! I've yet to read one of her books that I didn't enjoy. I've also yet to read one of her books without highlighting at least a dozen favorite quotes. Here are just a few:

“He murmured her name, tenderly taking her face in his hands. “I love you,” he said, his voice low and fervent. “I love you with everything I am, everything I’ve been, and everything I hope to be.”

“I love you with my past, and I love you for my future.” He bent forward and kissed her, once, softly, on the lips. “I love you for the children we’ll have and for the years we’ll have together. I love you for every one of my smiles, and even more, for every one of your smiles.”

Romancing Mister Bridgerton

“Listen to me," his voice even and intense,"and listen well, because I'm only going to say this once. I desire you. I burn for you. I can't sleep at night for wanting you. Even when I didn't like you, I lusted for you. It's the most maddening thing, beguiling, damnable thing, but there it is. And if I'm to hear one more word of nonsense from your lips, I'm going to have to tie you to the bed bloody bed and have my way with you a hundred different ways, until you finally get it through your silly skull that you are the most beautiful and desirable woman in England, and if anyone else doesn't see that they're bloody fools.”

The Viscount Who Loved Me

“Why? It’s because I love you, damn me to hell. Because I’ve always loved you. Because I loved you when you were with John, and I loved you when I was in India, and God only knows I don’t deserve you, but I love you, anyway.”

 When He Was Wicked

This: It makes me sigh and shudder and go weak in the knee. Every time!

As his hands moved to his trousers, he saw that she was pulling the bedsheets over her. "Don't," he said, barely recognizing his own voice. Her eyes met his, and he said, "I'll be your blanket."

 The Duke and I

And think, that's just the tip of the iceberg! :)

But I do have other favorite quotes. It's been a while since I've read many of the books on this post, but while looking through my GoodReads quotes, it all came back. And tempted me to dig out my copy of the book and do a reread session. So far I've restrained myself...but for how long, I do not know!

“Forgive me, madam," he said lightly, amused, "but waiting to make love to you again is straining my nerves."

She scoffed but she was quite shaken; he could see it in her expression, in the way she nervously toyed with the buttons on her pelisse.

"How awfully presumptuous of you to think I'd let you."

"You will," he insisted soothingly.

She gaped at him.

"Please continue," he urged. "I'm aching to hear the rest."

"You're as arrogant as usual."

"You missed it, though."

"I absolutely did not," she asserted.

He grinned. "You missed my arrogance almost as much as I missed your impudence, little one."

"That's absurd."

"I love you, Caroline," he softly, quickly replied, catching her off guard with such tenderness. "Move on before I decide I'm finished with this conversation, rip off your clothes, and show you how much.”

My Darling Caroline

Who doesn't love a tortured hero? It's almost hard-wired into us, isn't it ladies? When he finally finds The One, she will always heal him. Always.

“What did they do to you, to make you withdraw so far into yourself?"

[Sin doesn’t answer.]

"You’ve left me again, haven’t you? I can always tell. Your eyes turn dull, cold. Very well, I shall leave you in peace. But know this: One day I am going to find the heart you have buried away from the world."

"And what would you do with it if you found it?"

"I would hold it safe and keep it from the hurt that has shriveled it.”

Born in Sin

I have two quotes from MacLean's book. One shows the hero's wicked side, the other shows his sweet side. :) A perfect combination, in my opinion!

Quote 1:

"First, I thought we'd already established that I am not a gentleman. That ship sailed long ago. And second, you'd be surprised what gentlemen do...and what ladies enjoy."

Quote 2:

“Dear Sixpence,

I saved them all, you know. Every letter you ever sent, even those to which I never replied. I’m sorry for so many things, my love: that I left you; that I never came home; that it took me so long to realize that you were my home and that, with you by my side, none of the rest mattered.

But in the darkest hours, on the coldest nights, when I felt I’d lost everything, I still had your letters. And through them, in some small way,
I still had you.

I loved you then, my darling Penelope, more than I could imagine—just as I love you now, more than you can know.

Michael
Hell House, February 1831”

A Rogue by Any Other Name

I love this quote because of the wit. Though Sebastian does not end up asking her this question, we can all imagine a man that would, I'm sure!

That damned freckle on the upper swell of her left breast kept drawing his attention. If he'd just ask her how she came to have it, he'd no doubt lose all interest in it. But how did one word such an inquiry? "I daresay I was noticing your breast..."

She Tempts the Duke

Another sigh moment....

She looked down at him, blue eyes fairly glowing with desire. "I want you to want me."

He closed his eyes at that; trust Pippa to be forthright even here, even now, even as she bared herself to his eyes and mouth and hands. Trust her to strip this moment of all remaining shrouds, leaving it raw and bare and honest.

God help him, he told her the truth. He wasn't certain he could do anything but. "I do, love. I want you more than you can ever know. More than I could have ever dreamed. I want you enough for two men. For ten."

She laughed at that, the sound coming on a wicked movement of strong hips and soft stomach. "I don't require ten. Just you."

One Good Earl Deserves a Lover

Trust me, these are but a few of the many great quotes from the various Avon authors over the years. I'm sure if I took the time to go back through my books, I'd find dozens, perhaps even hundreds!

I'm giving one lucky commenter a

Aloha! Just hopping over to support my fellow Avon Addict! I am currently reading the anthology THE LADY MOST WILLING with Julia Quinn, Eloisa James, and Connie Brockway. It has too many humorous one liners to mention!

Honestly, I love some of the quotes in books and I just never really thought to add them to my review, but the except one of the last books I read. It was on chastity. Guard your oven door well, my dear. From A Taste for Scandal by Erin Knightley.

My favorite is from another of Julia Quinn's marvelous novels, The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever: "Today, I fell in love." It's so simple and sweet. It's the guiding thought of Miranda's whole life. Thanks for a wonderful post and a great giveaway.

I am a huge fan of Julia Quinn and those are some good quotes. I love to read so am picking 2 from one of my favorite Avon authors.
Jeaniene Frost -One Foot in the Grave:You talked her into going without panties all these years? Madre de Dios, now that's impressive. I could learn a great deal from you, amigo. "You lied to me." I ignored Juan's praise and advance until I pointed a finger in Bones's chest, which shook with suppressed laughter.
My all-time favorite: "Do it your way, but I suggest another one. You could go ahead and beat her bloody, or...you could give me such loud, screaming orgasms that the sound of them blisters her ears. If you have any former-whore-turned-promiscuous-vampire tricks you've been holding back, well, bring them on. I only have one stipulation: You'd better outperform any serivce you have gave to her or anyone else, because if I don't wake up tomorrow red in the face from embarrassment at what you did to me, I'll be disappointed."

I have a terrible memory, so I can't come up with quotes off the top of my head, though I know I've read lots of great lines. I do remember the Bones quote that Lily B. mentions.

One of my favorite quotes is a pretty common one... but it has always stuck with me ever since I first read it: "Reader, I married him," from Jane Eyre, of course.
Possibly the beginnings of my love of romance?

Ahhh I loved those from A Rogue by Any Other Name. Love her books :)

Hmmm. I have a ton of favorites...let me poke around a second and pull one out...

Alright it's just a silly one but it made me laugh so hard. It's from Michele Bardsley's Cross Your Heart which is a cheeky PNR series...

"Turn left at Main Street, you delicious man. Mmm. Nice hands. I loooove how you grip that big...strong...steering wheel."

"That's the voice of your GPS?" I asked Tez. "She sounds like a porn star."

"Jenna Jameson," he admitted. He glanced at me, grinning. Did nothing embarrass the man?

"Jenna who?" I asked primly.

"Jameson," offered Eva from the backseat.

I switched my gaze to her. Had she the ability, I suspected she would blush. She cleared her throat. "What?" she asked. "She writes books, too. Hey, as a librarian I don't judge. First amendment and all that."

"Of course, a stoirin." Lorcan had a manly grin on his face, which matched Tez's.

I rolled my eyes.

"A friend of mine uploaded her voice as a joke," said Tez.

"An' how many accidents have you been in since Jenna's bee givin' the directions?" asked Lorcan.

"Just some near misses."

"Your turn is coming, and if you keep driving like this, I will be, too. Go left, baby. Yeah, just like that. Oh...oh...ooooooh."

I reached toward the dash and pressed the OFF button. The GPS powered down and I glared at Tez. "Just follow the road. It leads straight to the driveway of the mansion. You can't miss it."

::snort:: See just a silly one this time ;) Thanks!!
