It's Historical week here at TBQ's Book Palace as part of my 4 year blogoversary celebration! Here is an author that I simply adore, with a spotlight on some of my favorite books by her. I hope you enjoy!
And don't forget to stop by this post to enter my Week 1 giveaway for the event!
~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~

I've been reading romance novels since childhood, when I found my mother's stash of books tucked away in a hall closet. Some of the first authors I read were Victoria Holt, Dorothy Eden and Mary Stewart.
After graduating from the University of Florida with a journalism degree, I worked as a newspaper reporter. After, tired of simply reporting the news, I became a writer for a large international charity. My work for the past 18 years has taken me to destitute countries like Haiti and Nicaragua to write about famine, disease and other issues affecting the poor. Humanitarian jobs are fulfilling, but emotionally draining. The work is for a good cause, but
the pressure can be enormous.
"About Bonnie" is directly from her website, along with the picture.the pressure can be enormous.
Where to Find Bonnie:
~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~
Bonnie writes under different genres, but the only ones I've read so far are her (older) releases, which are all historicals. I fell in love with them--hard--and to this day they still stick out from the hundreds of books I've read.
Why? Well, first, she's an awesome writer! Second, her historicals are all based in Egypt. Yep, Egypt. How many Egypt romances have you seen? Personally, these are some of the few I've came across, and for a unique histrical romance experience, I highly suggest picking them up!
Now, there are 7 books total in this series. I've only read 5, as, at the time I found them, they were pretty much out of print. Now they've all been re-released in e-book format, so I will definitely have to snatch up the last two!
Here are the five I have read, and highly recommend. The other two? Even without yet reading them, I know they're going to be 5 stars as well! :)

The Tiger and the Tomb by Bonnie Vanak
Publisher: Bonnie Vanak (5/3/12) [Reprint, ebook only]
Series: Khamsin Warriors of the Wind, 2
Genre: Historical Romance--Egypt
Warrior of the Wind
The map to the treasure-filled tomb that would ransom Lady Katherine's father was in the possession of a half-English "Khamsin," a desert warrior renowned for tiger-like ferocity. Long ago, a tiger had scarred Katherine and taught her a lesson: Protect yourself from such powerful creatures, no matter how beautiful. The veil she wore would not be enough.
Seeker of her heart
Her foe was truly dangerous. His amber eyes were keener than his sword, his kisses too. They stripped away Katherine's defenses and made her forget her duties, her promises, why she'd hidden so much from his view. Then the warrior took Katherine where she wished to go. In the depths of his ancestor's tomb he made sweet love to her and proved she was his... and that very soon he would uncover everything she tried to hide.

The Cobra and the Concubine by Bonnie Vanak
Publisher: Bonnie Vanak (1/5/12) [Reprint, ebook only]
Series: Khamsin Warriors of the Wind, 3
Series: Khamsin Warriors of the Wind, 3
Genre: Historical Romance--Egypt
THE SAND
Badra sought refuge in the Sahara, but she could never truly escape the sheikh who'd stolen her childhood. Fareeq had proven that her long dark hair and lush body aroused a passion in men that meant only pain-and neither his death nor protection by her rescuers, the Khamsin, the Warriors of the Wind, could change that. Badra could no more forget her past than one Khamsin's burning sapphire eyes. And she could no more accept the feelings Khepri aroused than she could admit the secret shadowing her heart.& THE FURY
Kenneth Tristan, heir to the duke of Caldwell, had ridden with the Khamsin since his English family's slaughter. Known as Khepri, the Cobra, he'd grown up in Egypt and loved the land. Yet, now, all was sand in the wind. The love of his Arabic brothers, the title that awaited him in London, the treasures from his family's archaeological dig - all was nothing, for he could not protect Badra, could not avenge her past and win her love. He would sacrifice all to make her whole. But until he did just that, they would still be just... THE COBRA & THE CONCUBINE

Series: Khamsin Warriors of the Wind, 5
Genre: Historical Romance--Egypt
An Egyptian warrior cursed with the Sight, Fatima must guard her friend, Tarik, who is next in line to lead her tribe, and as desire rages between them, she must choose between duty, honor, and true love.
From a young age, Fatima knew she must do battle. She knew this, her destiny, because every fiber of her body cried out for it--just as every fiber cries out for Tarik, the impossibly handsome "White Falcon," her friend and next in line to lead her tribe. She has been trained by her father to be the future sheikh's bodyguard. Yet, women of the Khamsin are not warriors, and the sons of sheikhs do not wish to have their lives saved by women any more than they wish to fall in love with childhood friends. Tradition
be damned; she will fulfill her destiny. And Tarik will love
her forever.

The Scorpion and the Seducer by Bonnie Vanak
Series: Khamsin Warriors of the Wind, 6
Genre: Historical Romance--Egypt
Jasmine Tristan was no stranger to the upper crust of English society. And yet, though adopted by a viscount, she was called the "Brown Scorpion" and knew the cruel sting of isolation. When her anger won out, her mother voiced fears. Was Jasmine truly bad at her core, like her sultan father from whom they'd fled? How could she be, when with Lord Thomas Claradon she'd known a moment of pure beauty? Their kiss had been scorching as a desert sun. But like a sandstorm, it was misdirecting: Thomas's mother's disdain and his loyalty to family and duty put him forever out of reach. Only a return to her birthplace, a quest to find her roots, would bring Jasmine the answer--and it would prove that true love could triumph over
ignorance, passion over prejudice.

I love England, and Scotland, and America of course. But really, reading nothing but books set in these places (especially for historicals), well, it gets a bet boring after a while. I loved these books, and I hope you enjoy them if/when you read them! :)
